Applications return each spring · AvH students in Grades 7–12

The Award

A tradition of leadership, carried forward.

The most meaningful way to honour an education is to help the next person make the most of theirs.

The purpose

The award was born from a simple belief: leadership is not only a title. It is the decision to notice what is needed, step forward, and bring others with you.

Michael and Vanda spent their formative years at AvH, from their earliest classrooms through the International Abitur. Both served as class and student representatives. Years later, they returned as alumni to create a lasting form of recognition for students who lead through service—not only through titles or academic achievement.

The Lecchino Leadership & Community Service Award honours one student each year whose initiative has made a meaningful impact at school or beyond it. It celebrates visible projects and quiet contributions alike: the courage to begin, the discipline to continue, and the generosity to bring others along.
